I recently discovered this video of a talk Mark Bittman gave about troubles with our food supply:
The New York Times has an article about "healthy foods you aren't eating" listing a bunch of really great foods. Who wouldn't be eating this stuff? The only thing on the list I don't eat on a regular basis is canned pumpkin. I suppose that is one of the advantages of having a nutritionist as a mother. Anyway, I have provided the list here along with a link to a recipe search and the wiki page for each item.
I saw a segment on 60 minutes recently about Plumpynut, a new food aid formulation that is basically peanut butter, powdered milk, powdered sugar, and enriched with vitamins and minerals. I thought this was a great idea, and unlike the gruel you usually see being served as food aid, this stuff looks good! This could be a good solution for all those starving computer programmers out there too!
